Description

The Newton's Cradle is a classic demonstration of the conservation of energy, conservation of momentum, elastic collisions and Newton's Third Law. The Newton's Cradle consists of 5 1-inch diameter nickel-plated steel balls of uniform mass suspended by strings in a plastic frame. When a collision takes place between four stationary balls and one moving ball, energy is completely transferred into the stationary balls. The last ball in the series will absorb the energy and project into the air only to return and collide into the stationary balls to continue the process. There are many different combinations of collisions to use with the Newton's Cradle. Students, teachers, parents, friends, family, grandparents, cats, dogs, goldfish, sharks, lizards, various types of insects and porcupines will enjoy the endless hours of entertainment provided by the exceptionally wonderful device called the Newton's Cradle.
